Natural Yogurt Band - "Tuck In With..."

Now Again has another great release to add to their discography...

Don't sleep on "Tuck In With...," the latest offering from the Natural Yogurt Band. I wanted to post this up because I've genuinely been enjoying listening to it lately! All you strictly hip hop heads... if you need something to switch it up from the norm, give it a try! I also want to give Egon a shout out for giving me a mastering credit on the back of the album. You're the man! Here's some more info on the record -

In 2009 Now-Again Records reissued the Natural Yogurt Band’s first platter - Away With Melancholy. Originally released in a limited run of 1000 pieces by Gerald "Jazzman" Short, those records quickly disappeared and the Jazzman himself had no plans to offer another helping. The result? An audience searching for psychedelic “music library” vibes from the golden era of the 60s and 70s meticulously recreated in the new millennium were left starved.

Two years later, the Band (really former Little Barrie drummer Wayne Fullwood and Miles Newbold) presents to you another platter of delights: Tuck In With… The Natural Yogurt Band. With their sophomore album, Fullwood and Newbold serve up more of what made the Natural Yogurt Band’s debut so special: quirky irreverence abounds, but the band has expanded their menu to include a influences from around the globe.

This album is presented in double 10’’ gatefold LP format, and a “mini-LP” version on CD. Both jackets are paste-on, thick-cut cardboard cases covered by die-cut OBI strips, all placed within a plastic sleeve.

DJ Knife Presents: Strange Brew

Knife, one of Boston's best DJs (there's been many fun nights at the Good Life when he's the man in the booth), has just released his latest offering to the world… Strange Brew! I had the pleasure of meeting up with the man himself two nights ago to offer a second set of ears in the mastering process. It was a good time! At the tail end of the night, we still knew the mix needed an intro. Previously, Knife had mentioned to me that he was thinking of using Cream's Strange Brew, so I looped that up and we threw a couple of drops over the beat. Then we paired what we slapped together with a vintage beer commercial we found hilarious. A lot of "two fist" mentions that sounded a lot funnier back to back to back. You'll see what I mean…

At the very beginning of the mix, listen to what Prince Paul is saying. The drop was only recorded a couple of years back, but you can hear Paul explaining to Knife that he's never seen a phone that could record sound too. Cliche statement here, but damn, technology moves fast!

Check out Strange Brew here -

Gotta love how he sets it off cutting up Michael Penn!
